(Washington, D.C. – August 1, 2013) Colleges and universities in the United States are invited to submit proposals for the development and implementation of a program(s) to support the study of Latin, ancient Roman archaeology, ancient Roman civilization and other related subjects. The grant will support opportunities for students to study abroad, conduct research, and pursue fellowships in the United States and in Italy.

“NIAF is proud to have awarded millions of dollars in scholarships and grants throughout its history. This is the first time we have chosen to give such a large amount to one educational institution. Thanks to the generosity of the late Ernest L. Pellegri, one of the Foundation’s donors, we now have the opportunity to make a long-term impact on this field and its scholarship,” said NIAF President and Chief Operating Officer John M. Viola.

Qualified college and university departments should be part of a U.S.-based, accredited college or university and have demonstrated achievement in the fields of Latin, ancient Roman archaeology, ancient Roman civilization or related subjects.

The RFP can be downloaded from NIAF’s website at www.niaf.org/grants.

Submission deadline: November 1, 2013, by 5 p.m. EST. Please send proposals to NIAF, 1860 19th Street N.W., Washington, DC 20009. Attn: Alexandra Dall. Correspondence pertaining to the RFP should be directed to Alexandra Dall, director of programs, at Alexandra@niaf.org or 202-939-3118.
