NIAF 2019-2020 Scholarship Applications Are Now Open

(Washington, D.C. – December 6, 2018) – The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is excited to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2019-2020 scholarship program. Over the past 43 years, NIAF’s scholarship program has grown to offer 35 different scholarships with various criteria ranging in value from $2,500 to $12,000. NIAF offers scholarships in the fields of Italian language and culture, medicine, engineering, business, law, music and other specialized fields.

NIAF’s Scholarships and Grants Committee Co-Chair Linda R. Carlozzi said, “The National Italian American Foundation is proud to continue its longstanding tradition of awarding merit-based scholarships to institutions and students across America. Each year, NIAF awards more than $1 million to deserving undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, medical and law students pursuing their dreams of higher education. Our scholarships and grants programs are a core mission of NIAF, which supports Italian American students as they pursue their career goals.”

Scholarship applicants must be a NIAF member or have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Foundation. Applicants must also be enrolled in or entering an accredited college or university in the United States in the fall of 2019. For the purposes of the NIAF scholarships program, to be considered “Italian American,” the applicant must have at least one ancestor who has emigrated from Italy; applicants must also be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.

All requirements, including recommendation letters and other supporting documents, must be uploaded to the application by the deadline to be considered complete. The application deadline is Friday, March 1, 2019 (11:59 p.m. EST). Scholarship recipients will be notified via email on Monday, May 6, 2019.
