(Washington, D.C. – December 9, 2022) – The President of the National Italian American Foundation, Robert Allegrini, issued this statement after a Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania ruling on South Philadelphia’s Columbus statue:

“The National Italian American Foundation applauds the ruling of the Commonwealth Court requiring the removal of the box that has been covering South Philadelphia’s Columbus statue in Marconi Plaza for two years. The ruling represents a victory for all those Americans who realize that Christopher Columbus’ courageous voyage was the catalyst that initiated over 500 years of immigration to the Americas by people from every corner of the Earth— all of whom were seeking a better life for their families.”
