The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), will host its annual education luncheon to showcase several of the Foundation’s shcolarship and grant award recipients. The event will highlight cultural and educational programs for Italian Americans.

Michael Badalucco, actor, ABC “The Practice” is the master of ceremonies. He will be joined by playwright and NIAF grant recipient, John Picardi, “The Sweepers.” The following students will speak at the luncheon:

  • Michael Costello, NIAF Student to Leaders Program (S2L)
  • Stephanie Longo, NIAF Gift of Discovery
  • Gregory Guglielmo, NIAF Scholarship recipient, Georgetown University

A NIAF Special Presentation of the Ducato dei Vini Association Awards will be presented to NIAF Chairman Frank J. Guarini, NIAF President Joseph R. Cerrell, and restauranteur and TV host, Lidia Bastianich, will be crowned as honorary members of the Association.

The Ducato Association was founded in 1972 to enhance the values, mainly cultural, of the wines and the gastronomy of the Region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia in Italy. The wines made in Friuli are considered among the best in the world.

At the beginning of the luncheon, the 2002 Sergio Franchi Music Scholarship winner, whistler Michael Barimo, will perform.

This year the NIAF will award nearly $1 million in scholarships and grants.
