(WASHINGTON, DC – November 14, 2002) Salvatore Balsamo, chairman of TAC Worldwide Companies, was appointed by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Board of Directors to serve as the Foundation’s regional vice president for the New England area. Earlier this year, Mr. Balsamo was elected to the NIAF Board of Directors during the Foundation’s annual meeting at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

“We are delighted that Sal Balsamo has accepted this position. He will greatly increase the NIAF’s presence in New England,” said NIAF Chairman Frank J. Guarini. “Sal will work to increase NIAF’s membership base and to fund scholarships and youth programs in this important area of our country,” added Guarini.

As NIAF regional vice president, Mr. Balsamo will initiate activities and programs with NIAF’s area coordinator Ronald W. Del Sesto, who is honorary vice consul of Italy in Providence, Rhode Island, in addition to coordinators he will name in other areas of the region. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Mr. Balsamo’s home state of Massachusetts has a population of 845,000 Italian Americans or 15 percent of the population. In addition to Massachusetts and Rhode Island, the NIAF New England region includes Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.

“I am honored to be associated with such a premier organization as the NIAF and look forward to working on some new and exciting initiatives with young Americans of Italian heritage in my region,” said Mr. Balsamo.

For the past 33 years, Mr. Balsamo has served as chairman of TAC Worldwide Companies, one of the world’s largest providers of technical, information technology, engineering, and office support staffing. His strong belief in giving back to the community is reflected in his support of many public service and philanthropic organizations. He serves on the national leadership committee of the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. He is also the founder and trustee of the Balsamo Memorial Charitable Foundation, which conducts fundraising activities for charities that serve children and the elderly.
