NIAF Announces Design Contest for 30th Anniversary Gala Awards

(Washington, DC – April 22, 2005) The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF), in conjunction with the Italian Trade Commission, is sponsoring a competition in Italy for the design of the new NIAF Special Achievement Award. The award will be presented at the Foundation’s 30th Anniversary Gala, October 15, 2005, in Washington, D.C., to its 2005 gala honorees.

Singer Tony Bennett, business icon Lee Iacocca, actress Sophia Loren, Mrs. Frank Sinatra, and television personality Larry King are among the celebrities selected to judge the design competition.

The winner will be a special guest at the NIAF 30th Anniversary Gala and the winning design will be presented before more than 3,000 guests including the President of the United States, prominent Italians and Italian Americans in sports, entertainment, business, the arts and government.

Marble, glass, ceramic and stone artisans in Italy are invited to submit their entries for the NIAF award. The designs will be judged by the celebrity panel for the final selection. The winning design will be announced September 1, 2005. Submissions must be received by Friday, July 1, 2005.There is no fee to enter.
