EVENT: Ambassador Charles Gargano to Address
Public Policy Forum on Capitol Hill

Charles A. Gargano, chairman of the Empire State Development Corporation of New York and vice chairman of the Board of Commissioners of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will address Members of Congress and prominent Italian American leaders in business and government at the NIAF Frank J. Guarini Public Policy Forum on Capitol Hill, Wednesday morning, March 9 at 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

Ambassador Gargano will speak about the redevelopment of lower Manhattan post 9/11, including the reconstruction projects at Ground Zero and the rebuilding of a new World Trade Center and skyscrapers.

Appointed by Governor George E. Pataki, Ambassador Gargano has served as vice chairman of the Board of Commissioners of The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey since April 1995. He also serves as chairman of the Olympic Regional Development Authority.

NIAF Frank J. Guarini Public Policy Forums are held in conjunction with the Italian American Congressional Delegation. There are nearly 200 Members and associates of the delegation, including 29 Representatives and Senators who trace their roots to Italy. The events feature prominent speakers addressing the salient issues of the day. They also provide a forum for an open exchange of ideas and an opportunity for a diverse array of perspectives to be heard.

Prominent individuals who recently addressed the popular NIAF Public Policy Forums include: Viet D. Dinh, former assistant attorney general and principal architect of the USA Patriot Act; Giovanni Prezioso, general counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); General Anthony Zinni, former US Special Envoy to the Middle East; Nicholas Calio, former White House Director of Legislative Affairs; and John Podesta, former White House Chief of Staff.
