(Washington, D.C. – September 8, 2016) International retailer Brooks Brothers has partnered with the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) to help aid victims of the recent devastating earthquake in central Italy. Starting today, Brooks Brothers will accept donations at its 260 stores across the United States. All donations will go to NIAF’s Italian American Relief Fund, a coordinated effort to provide immediate response to natural catastrophes in Italy. Through its nonprofit organization, Golden Fleece Foundation, Brooks Brothers will match 100 percent of all donations made in its stores or referred online at www.italianamericanrelief.org.

“The Italian American Relief Fund was created so that we could give individuals and groups throughout the Italian American community a place to come and support shared efforts to do the most good for Italy. It was all about getting the most out of the incredible generosity of the Italian American community in this time of great need for our ancestral homeland,” NIAF President John M. Viola said.

“We at the National Italian American Foundation are so proud that Brooks Brothers and its Golden Fleece Foundation are confident enough in our platform to partner with us on this incredibly important initiative.”

The Italian American Relief Fund has received a tremendous outpouring of support in donations, with Italian American organizations and individuals across the country partnering with NIAF to push this initiative. One hundred percent of all donations to the Fund will go to the affected victims and areas of central Italy.

NIAF is currently working with local officials in Italy, the Embassy of Italy, and the U.S. Department of State to identify which projects best serve the long term needs of victims and the region. The Foundation is also looking to support immediate relief efforts, including a project which will send a group of Harvard University physicians to central Italy, to train local physicians on physical and psychological post trauma treatments.

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is a non-profit organization with its headquarters in Washington, D.C., and dedicated to preserving and promoting the heritage of Italian Americans. Visit www.niaf.org.
