Joseph J. Plumeri

Joseph J. Plumeri has served as CchairmanChairman and Cchief Eexecutive OofficerChief Executive Officer of The Willis Group, the world’s third largest insurance broker, specializing in reducing risk for entities in such fields as aerospace, construction, energy, healthcare, marine, and mergers and acquisitions.

Before joining Willis, Plumeri spent 32 years as an executive with Citigroup Inc. and its predecessors. He oversaw the 450 North American retail branches of Citigroup’s Citibank unit, and also served as CchairmanChairman and Cchief Eexecutive OofficerChief Executive Officer of Citigroup’s Primerica Financial Services from 1995 to 1999. In 1994, Plumeri was appointed Vvice CchairmanVice Chairman of Citigroup’s predecessor, Travelers Group Inc. Inn 1993 he became the PpresidentPresident of a predecessor of Citigroup’s Salomon Smith Barney unit after overseeing the merger of Smith Barney and Shearson and serving as the PpresidentPresident and Mmanaging PpartnerManaging Partner of Shearson since 1990.

Plumeri serves as a board member and advisor to many organizations, including Commerce Bank, The Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary, the Grand Slam We Care Foundation, and The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. He is also a commissioner forof the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.

Plumeri is the recipient of numerous honors and awards, including the Alumni Medal of Honor from The College of William & Mary, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, the 1997 “Future of New Jersey Award” from D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and the 1998 “Special Achievement Award” from CASA.

Plumeri is an alumnus of The College of William and Mary and New York Law School.
