(Washington, D.C. – August 13, 2019) Statement from NIAF Co-Chairs Patricia de Stacy Harrison and Gabriel A. Battista concerning the ethnic attack against CNN’s Chris Cuomo:

Like other immigrant groups and minorities, Italian Americans have long been the target of ethnic attacks and negative stereotyping despite the fact that Italian American values comprise a strong connection to family, a strong work ethic, a strong commitment to their faith and a strong allegiance to this nation. This was an ethnic slur and not the first time the Cuomo family has been subjected to the maligning of their heritage.

NIAF is committed to furthering mutual respect for all people, whatever their race or heritage. This is an essential component of a strong civil society.
