Joseph R. Cerrell, President, The National Italian American Foundation(WASHINGTON, DC – November 12, 2003) “Earlier today in an act of cowardice, terrorists drove a truck bomb loaded with explosives into the Italian Carabinieri police headquarters in the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah. On behalf of Americans of Italian heritage and all freedom-loving people, we deplore such acts of senseless violence and join with the Republic of Italy in mourning the loss of 18 brave Italians who gave their lives trying to bring democracy to the Iraqi people. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of these innocent victims.”
