“On behalf of the National Italian American Foundation’s Board of Directors, we congratulate Coach Geno Auriemma in leading his team, the University of Connecticut’s Women’s Basketball team, the Huskies, to its eleventh national title. His historic win on Tuesday only adds to his legendary status in college basketball.
“We are extremely proud of Geno’s accomplishments as an outstanding head coach and chief architect of UConn’s women’s team. We salute Geno as a distinguished Italian American and passionate leader.

NIAF honored Geno with the Foundation’s Special Achievement Award in Sports during its 37th Anniversary Awards Gala in our nation’s capital on October 13, 2012.
