NIAF Statement on the Passing of Rocco Commisso

WASHINGTON, D.C. (January 17, 2026) – The National Italian American Foundation mourns the passing of Rocco B. Commisso, a visionary entrepreneur, proud Italian American, and former NIAF Board Member.

Born in Calabria and raised in the United States, he built an extraordinary Italian American success story as founder, chairman, and CEO of Mediacom Communications, one of the nation’s largest privately held cable companies. In 2019, he became the owner of ACF Fiorentina, deepening his lifelong connection to Italy.

We are grateful for his service to NIAF and for the lasting impact of his leadership, generosity, and pride in his heritage. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones.
