(Washington, D.C. – December 1, 2020) The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is now accepting applications for its 2021-2022 Scholarship Program. Over the past 45 years, NIAF’s Scholarship Program has grown to offer 29 different scholarships with various criteria, ranging in value from $2,500 to $12,000. NIAF offers scholarships in the fields of Italian language and culture, medicine, engineering, business, law, music and other specialized fields.

“The National Italian American Foundation values the importance of education and the role it plays in helping deserving Italian American students build promising futures,” said NIAF Chairman Patricia de Stacy Harrison. “NIAF’s leadership is extremely impressed by our scholarship students and their outstanding achievements.”

“The Foundation is proud to continue its longstanding tradition of awarding merit-based scholarships to institutions and students across America,” said NIAF’s Scholarships and Grants Committee Co-chairs Linda R. Carlozzi and Dr. John P. Rosa. “On average, NIAF awards $1 million annually to deserving undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, medical and law students pursuing their dreams of higher education. Our scholarships and grants programs are a core mission of NIAF, which supports Italian American students as they pursue their career goals.”

Scholarship applicants must be NIAF members or have a parent or guardian who is a member of the Foundation. Applicants must also be enrolled in or entering an accredited college or university in the United States in the fall of 2021. For the purposes of the NIAF Scholarships Program, to be considered “Italian American,” the applicant must have at least one ancestor who has emigrated from Italy; applicants must also be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens.

Only online applications will be accepted. All requirements, including recommendation letters and other supporting documents, must be uploaded to the application by the deadline to be considered complete.

The application deadline is Monday, March 1, 2021 (11:59 p.m. EST). Scholarship recipients will be notified via email on Monday, May 3, 2021.
