A Win for the Diaspora: NIAF's Advocacy Helps End the "Minor Issue"

Italy's Court of Cassation just struck down the "minor issue," a rule that had wrongly stripped thousands of jure sanguinis applicants of their Italian citizenship over a parent's naturalization during their minority. NIAF pushed for this outcome, working with parliamentarians representing Italians abroad, including Hon. Christian Di Sanzo, and the Italian American Congressional Delegation (IACD), to keep the issue alive in Rome and Washington. Aug. 5: Mamma That’s All Right, a recipient of the NIAF/De Laurentiis Film Prize, makes its California premiere at the LA Shorts International Film Festival. The documentary follows two Italian musicians pursuing the American dream in Tennessee and features a special appearance by Priscilla Presley. Writer-director Valentina Signorelli will attend for a post-screening Q&A.
