Attributed to NIAF Chairman Joseph V. Del Raso:

“On behalf of the National Italian American Foundation Board of Directors, its staff and family, we are deeply saddened by the passing of Baroness Mariuccia Zerilli-Marim, a former member of the Foundation’s Board of Directors (2004-2011), and founder of Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marim of New York University. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Zerilli-Marim family. The Baroness passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the age of 89.

“The Baroness was a kind and elegant woman with an infectious smile who left a legacy to the Italian American community in Italian language and culture.

“A native born Italian who impacted several organizations, but especially those residents in the sister cities of New York and Milan, she will be deeply missed by us all.”

Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. in the Cathedral of Monaco. A special Mass in honor of her memory will be celebrated in the Cathedral of Milan on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at 5:30 p.m.
