NIAF Announces 2021 Region of Honor: Abruzzo
Each year, NIAF collaborates with a region in Italy by promoting its culture, business and tourism in the United States, while also traveling to the region to promote cultural exchange. NIAF Provides More Than Quarter of a Million Dollars in Scholarships and Fellowships in 2021

NIAF Applauds Italian Parliament in Defense of Columbus
The National Italian American Foundation applauds the Italian parliament for its resolution of June 16th which “commits the government to take action, on the political and diplomatic level, so that the Italian cultural heritage in the USA and the symbolic figure of that heritage embodied by Christopher Columbus may be safeguarded.” Read NIAF’s statement and more about the motion: https://bit.ly/3xKKL2e

Ambassador Magazine
Due to the financial constraints presented by the pandemic, NIAF has made the difficult decision to indefinitely suspend the summer issue of Ambassador magazine. We will continue to publish the fall, winter and spring issues. Meanwhile, all issues from the past decade are available online for free on our website. The NIAF on Campus Program brings together Italian American students who are active in their college’s Italian clubs to promote the success of Italian organizations on university campuses across the nation and create a stronger Italian American presence in their communities. Vicky Carabini
Congratulazioni to longtime NIAF friend and supporter Vicky Carabini on being awarded the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) by the Italian Republic. Chair of the Italian Studies Council at Chapman University, and Sister City Ambassador to Capestrano, Italy, and San Juan Capistrano, in Orange County, Calif., Carabini was knighted on May 26 by Hon. Silvia Chiave, Italian consul general in Los Angeles on behalf of Sergio Mattarella, president of Italy. This distinction is one of Italy’s highest honors for Italians abroad and is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in philanthropy, community activism, research, and the promotion of friendly relations between Italy and other countries.

Marianna Gatto
Congratulazioni to Italian American Museum of Los Angeles Executive Director and Cofounder Marianna Gatto on being awarded the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy) by the Italian Republic. Dom Serafini
Congratulazioni to NIAF friend Dom Serafini for publishing the second volume of I Messaggeri d’Abruzzo nel Mondo (The Messengers of Abruzzo Around the World) that includes 100  more fantastic personalities originally from 70 cities, towns and villages around the Abruzzo region of Italy. They currently reside in 25 countries around the world. Personalities include NIAF’s former chairman and Board member Joseph V. Del Raso; Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida; Mathea Falco, former U.S. deputy secretary of State; Salvatore R. Martoche, a former judge of the New York State Supreme Court; and Hollywood star Annabella Sciorra. Available on Amazon.
