This website is hosted in the United States. If you are visiting from the European Union or other regions with laws that govern data collection which may differ from those in the U.S., please be aware that you are transferring your personal data to the United States, where data protection laws may vary.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), effective as of May 25, 2018, GDPR stipulations only apply when personal data is collected from an individual person who is located in an EU country at the time the data is collected, regardless of that individual’s citizenship.
Your rights under the GDPR include the right to:
- Request confirmation from NIAF on whether or not your Personal Information is being collected, stored, used, and where and how that is taking place.
- Request a copy of your data that is in NIAF’s system, including information provided to us by you, which was collected with your consent (i.e., online forms) or through anonymous data collection functions, such as website cookies.
- Request that NIAF correct or complete your Personal Information where it is inaccurate or incomplete for the purpose of our records.
- Request that NIAF erase your personal data in the following circumstances: the Personal Information is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which it is stored; you withdraw your consent and there is no other legal ground for the storage of the information; your Personal Information has been unlawfully obtained; or the erasure is necessary in order to comply with a relevant legal obligation that applies to NIAF.
- Request that NIAF restrict the collection and storage of your Personal Information in the following circumstances: you contest the accuracy of the Personal Information; the collection and storage of your Personal Information is unlawful, but you would like to request restriction rather than full erasure of the information; NIAF no longer needs the data, but it is required by you in respect of legal claims; you have objected to the collection and storage of your Personal Information, until NIAF may verify that there are legitimate purposes that justify such collection and storage; object to any collection and storage that is based on NIAF’s, or a third party’s legitimate interests, after which NIAF will suspend collecting and storing information until we demonstrate legitimate purposes that justify that collection and storage.
NIAF will comply with any valid request for information under the rights explained above within 30 days, though we may provide extensions to this deadline when necessary, due to the potential complexity of GDPR stipulations and the number of requests.
