The Emanuele & Emilia Inglese Memorial Scholarship now Available Through the National Italian American Foundation

(WASHINGTON, DC – March 25, 2002) The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) announces its newest scholarship, The Emanuele & Emilia Inglese Memorial Scholarship, to an Italian American student in college from the Lombardy region of Italy. Deadline for application: April 30, 2002.

One scholarship of $2,500 is available to an Italian American undergraduate student who traces their ancestry from the Lombardy region and is the first generation of their family to attend college. Applicants must have a 3.0 or higher GPA, demonstrate financial need and be enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning during the Fall 2002.

To apply, students must submit the following: an application form by accessing the NIAF web site at www.niaf.org/scholarships/other; a copy of an Financial Aid Form (FAFSA), a teacher evaluation and an official transcript. All documentation must be postmarked by April 30, 2002.

The Emanuele and Emilia Inglese Memorial Scholarship was established through the NIAF in honor of the parents of Flavio C. English and the grandparents of James J. English.

Since 1976, the NIAF has awarded nearly $5 million in scholarship and grants to students across the nation. The NIAF also offers scholarships to Italian American students and students studying Italian. Deadline for all NIAF 2002 scholarships is April 30, 2002.
