**New Jersey Educator Frank Campione to Receive Award**

(WASHINGTON, D.C. – October 8, 2010) Frank A. Campione, a teacher of Italian language at Nottingham High School in Hamilton, N.J. and Ocean County College in Toms River, is the recipient of the eighth annual National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Teacher of the Year Award. Campione, a resident of Freehold Township, N.J., will be recognized at NIAF’s 35th Anniversary Awards Convention Weekend, held October 22-23 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

The NIAF Teacher of the Year Award honors an educator at the elementary, secondary and college level who has shown dedication to teaching Italian and demonstrates an ability to inspire a love of this topic in students of any background.

“Professor Campione is an extremely positive person who works well with students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds. His dedication to the Nottingham Italian Club has been an asset to the entire Hamilton Township School District, as this organization is one of the largest of its kind in the state,” Michael Giambelluca, Nottingham High School principal, said.

Campione will receive a continuing education stipend for the study of a specialized course designed for foreign teachers of the Italian language, “Corso di aggiornamento per insegnanti di italiano a stranieri,” (Refresher Course for Teachers of Italian Abroad) from NIAF in partnership with the University for Foreigners Perugia.

With 20 years of experience in foreign language education, Campione has taught Italian at Nottingham High School for the past 6 years. He teaches all levels of Italian and amongst many achievements, serves as a member of the Italian Curriculum Committee for NHS and N.J. Italian American HeritageCommission.

During NIAF’s convention, the Foundation will host Expo Italia, a two-day exhibition showcasing the best of Italy, and an Auction Showcase. The convention also features a conference on breast cancerawareness, “Let’s Talk About It!” with NIH Director Francis S. Collins, M.D., and “Indulge in the Flavors of Italy without a Ticket! – Italian Wine & Food Seminar” presented by the Italian TradeCommission.
