NIAF Vice Chairman Louis Freeh To Chair Pepper Hamilton LLP

(WASHINGTON, D.C.— February 7, 2013) Louis J. Freeh, a National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Vice Chairman and former director of Federal Bureau of Investigation, was named chair of Pepper Hamilton LLP, the 500-lawyer Philadelphia law firm on Tuesday, February 5, 2013.

“As business partner and a member of NIAF’s leadership team, congratulations to Louie on this milestone,” said NIAF President Joseph V. Del Raso, Esq. “His vision and commitment to professional management will advance the law firm to the vanguard of innovation. We have always respected his commitment to public service, and most importantly, his integrity. Judge Freeh has served as general counsel (2005-2009) and member of the NIAF Board of Directors since 2002. He began serving as vice chairman international from 2009 to the present. He has been recognized on several occasions for his exemplary accomplishments, which include investigations and prosecutions relating to racketeering, drugs, organized crime, fraud, white-collar crime and terrorism.

In 1987 and 1991, he received the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service, the second highest annual honor given by the Department of Justice. Other commendations include the John Marshall Award for Preparation of Litigation, awarded annually by the Attorney General, and the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association Award.

Judge Freeh is a member of the Executive Committee of the law firm of Pepper Hamilton LLP, chair of the Board of Directors of the Freeh Group International Solutions, chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee of the Board of Directors for Bristol-Myers Squibb, and sits on a number of non-profit boards, including the United States Naval Academy Foundation and the International Association of Chief of Police Foundation.

Last year, Judge Freeh was ranked one of the top 15 “Americans of the Year 2012” list in the December issue of Esquire Magazine. Judge Freeh joined his fellow Italian Americans, actor Bradley Cooper, rock icon Bruce Springsteen and Mars-project NASA engineer Tom Rivellini with this honor.
