(WASHINGTON, D.C. — November 2, 2007) Dr. A. Kenneth Ciongoli, National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) chairman, has been appointed to the U.S.-Italy Fulbright Commission’s 60th Anniversary Advisory Board. The advisory board will help plan commemorative events and identify possible sources of funding for additional Fulbright scholarships during the 60th anniversary of the Fulbright program in Italy in 2008.

“It is truly an honor and distinct privilege to serve with so many prominent Italian political and business leaders as well as Italian-American notables on the Fulbright Commission’s advisory board,” NIAF Chairman A. Kenneth Ciongoli, said.

The committee is chaired by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Massimo D’Alema, U.S. Ambassador to Italy Ronald P. Spogli, and Italian Ambassador to the United States Giovanni Castellaneta. Other participants include Mayor of Rome Walter Veltroni, Mayor of Naples Rosa Russo Jervolino, and Mayor of Milan Letizia Morati in addition to a host of Italian and American Fulbright recipients, including writer Umberto Eco.

Since its founding in 1946, more than a quarter million people around the world have reaped the benefits of the Fulbright program.
