To kick off the NIAF 38th Anniversary Gala Weekend, the Foundation will host “Come Fly With Me,” a Vegas- Style evening in the atrium of the Ronald Reagan Building on Friday, October 25 at 8 p.m. The NIAF’s Anniversary Awards Gala on Saturday evening will conclude a day of conferences and activities offering the best of Italy in Washington D.C. Elections: When (and Where) Italian Americans Make A Difference
Panelists from the Italian American Studies Association (IASA), will discuss the 21st – Century Italian American Experience. Jefferson – Concourse Level, 9 to 11 a.m.

“Carnera: The Walking Mountain” a movie screening of the Italian film about Primo Carnera, Italy’s only heavyweight champion of the world. The screening will be followed by a meet-and-greet and Q&A period with the film’s lead actor Andrea Iaia. Georgetown – Concourse Level, 10 a.m.to 1 p.m.

“Explorers Emigrants Citizens” A Visual History of the Italian American Experience from the Collections of the Library of Congress Authors Linda Barrett Osbourne and Paolo Battaglia will discuss their perspective on Italians in America followed by book signing and sale of the new release. Independence- Concourse Level- 11 a.m. to noon

Wine Tasting and Luncheon A special sit-down tasting with a full luncheon featuring wines from across Italy with sommelier on hand to lead guests through the spectrum of Italian wines. Jefferson – Concourse Level, 1 to 3 p.m. Cost: $75 per person
