Join Bernard “Ben” Cammarata, National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) regional vice president for New England, and Mary Ann Sarazen, daughter of the late Gene Sarazen, on Monday, October 8, 2007 for the Fifth Annual Sarazen Memorial Cup. Proceeds will benefit the NIAF Gene Sarazen Scholarship Fund and the Italian Home for Children in Boston.

The annual NIAF tournament is held in in honor of late Italian-American golfer Gene Sarazen, whose many accomplishments include winning seven major championships and a total of 38 PGA Tour titles. He was the first to achieve a career grand slam of the four majors. “The Squire,” as he was known, died in 1999.

With a shotgun start at 10 a.m., the tournament will be followed by a 2:30 p.m. cocktail reception and an awards buffet dinner at 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top three foursomes. Additional prizes will be given for the longest drive and closest to the pin. Hole-in-one prizes include use of a luxury sports cars, trips to the Caribbean and golf equipment. Registration is $250 per person. Corporate sponsorships are also available. The format will be a Modified Scramble.

The Italian Home for Children in Boston provides assistance for children and families in crisis. It is a residential and day treatment facility for the most severely abused, neglected, and emotionally disturbed children with the goal of reintegrating them back into their schools, families, and communities.
