Italian American Leaders Welcome President of Italy Sergio Mattarella

(Washington, D.C.– February 9, 2016) Italian American organizations across the nation will welcome the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to New York City at a special reception at the  Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum on Wednesday evening, February 10, 2016.

“We are so proud to be part of a concerted effort to bring leading Italian American organizations together to welcome the president of our ancestral homeland to the United States, ” National Italian American Foundation (NIAF)  President John M. Viola said.  “Tonight shows Italian leaders that our community is united in our dedication to our rich heritage and building a future together with the Republic of Italy.”

President Mattarella will greet the more than 500 guests and speak about the relationship between Italy and the Italian American community in the United States. Immediately following his address, he will greet Italian American leaders.

The welcome reception will be co-hosted by officials from the Italian Consulate of Italy in New York City; NIAF; the Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA); the Columbus Citizens Foundation; the American Society of Italian Legions of Merit (ASILM); the National Organization of Italian American Women (NOIAW); the Conference of Presidents of Major Italian American Organizations ; and the Italian American Chamber of Commerce.

Media interested in covering the reception in honor of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, must RSVP to cg.newyork@esteri.it and Isabella.periotto@esteri.it no later than Tuesday, February 9, by 7p.m.

ID check and airport-style security screening will apply. Media must be present at venue at 6 p.m.
