Carlo di Florio, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Director of Office of Compliance, Inspections and Examinations (OCIE), will serve as the keynote speaker at a National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Public Policy Lecture Series on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City.

During the luncheon Mr. di Florio will discuss “Strengthening the SEC: internal improvements and regulatory reform, lessons learned from the financial crisis.” He will be joined by NIAF’s leadership including Joseph V. Del Raso, Esq. president and Michael A. Zampardi, regional vice president for New York as well as Italian American business and community leaders, government officials and opinion leaders.

Mr. di Florio was named to his current position at the SEC on January 4, 2010. Previously he served as a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), in the Financial Services Regulatory Practice and was one of PwC’s national leaders in corporate governance, enterprise risk management and regulatory compliance and ethics. As head of OCIE, Mr. di Florio oversees the SEC’s nationwide examination programs for investment advisers, broker-dealers, mutual funds, credit rating agencies and self-regulatory organizations.

Held around the nation, the NIAF Public Policy Lecture Series is an educational program that showcases distinguished figures discussing their respective areas of expertise in public policy in a nonpartisan setting. Past speakers have included Dana Perino, former White House press secretary for President George W. Bush; Hon. Louis J. Freeh, former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve; Alan Greenspan, former chairman of the Federal Reserve; and Christopher Cox, former chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. This policy luncheon is being held in collaboration with the NIAF Business Roundtable, a program that assembles leaders in business and key decision makers in substantive discussion on critical issues of the day. The NIAF Business Roundtable has been held in both the United States and Italy with the next installment set for June 8, 2010 in Rome, Italy.
