(Washington, D.C.—June 7, 2016) The National Italian American Foundation and i-Italy, one of the largest editorial networks dedicated to Italian and Italian American affairs in the United States, have partnered to offer two part-time internships for Italian American college graduates, who are interested in building a career in the field of communications and further increasing their proficiency in the Italian language. The internships are based in New York City and include a $1,000-a-month stipend.

“The NIAF i-Italy internships afford recent graduates an excellent opportunity to build a promising career in communications while honing one’s Italian language skills, “NIAF President John M. Viola said. “We are working to prepare future generations of Italian Americans to successfully enter today’s competitive workforce.”

The 10-month internships will begin on September 6, 2016. The schedules require five hours per day, five days a week, with occasional weekend and holiday shifts.  Interns will report to i-Italy and work toward developing their skills in journalism, editing and translations for print and online media outlets.  The internship will also include skill building in filmmaking, videography for television and the web, as well as marketing and sales online.

Applicants must meet the following criteria: Have graduated within the last year from an accredited college or university having completed a qualifying bachelors, masters, professional or doctoral degree; possess intermediate to advanced language skills in Italian; have an ancestor who has emigrated from Italy; and be a member of NIAF or have a parent or guardian who is a member.
