Attenzione: Apply for NIAF Scholarships and Grants
Time is running out to apply for one of more than 80 scholarships NIAF is offering for the 2012-2013 academic year. The deadline for applications is March 2. Last year, the scholarships NIAF awarded to students in the United States averaged more than $3,000.

To be eligible, applicants either must be of Italian descent, with at least one ancestor who has emigrated from Italy, or be a student of any ethnic background majoring or minoring in the Italian language, Italian Studies, Italian American studies or a related field. NIAF scholarship recipients are selected on academic merit: Students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to apply. The application and instructions are available online at www.niaf.org/scholarships.

Meanwhile, applications for 2012-2013 NIAF Grants are now available online at www.niaf.org/grants. The deadline for submitting a proposal for a grant project that supports NIAF’s mission in promoting Italian American heritage and culture is June 30.

Kick-Off Reception for New York Golf Tournament
Always a fun event, this reception takes place at The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum located at 46th Street and 12th Avenue in New York City to promote NIAF membership and the upcoming NIAF 8th Annual New York Golf Tournament at the Old Westbury Golf & Country Club in August. Italy Onscreen at the Miami International Film Festival
The Miami International Film Festival, produced and presented annually by Miami Dade College, will celebrate its 29th anniversary March 2-11 showcasing more than 100 films from 35 countries. Italian Film Opening: “The Salt of Life”

Jojo Capece’s “All Roads Lead to Rome” Book Tour
Author and NIAF member Jojo Capece will present her new book, “All Roads Lead to Rome,” and speak about “the Eternal City” and its art and history, at the Ft. Italy’s Uffizi Gallery Sends Angels to America
The U.S. tour of “Offering of the Angels: Tapestries and Paintings from the Uffizi Gallery” is currently showing 43 paintings and two tapestries from such Baroque and Renaissance masters as Botticelli, Liberi and Tintoretto, at the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale until April 8. This magnificent exhibit then travels to the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, Pa., from April 21 through August 10, making only two other stops before returning to Florence in March, 2013. Castiglione at The National Gallery of Art
