ScholarshipsApplications for NIAF scholarships are now open.  Scholarships range from $2,000 – $12,000 and are awarded to undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate, medical, and legal students. The Calandra Italian American Institute 
Jews-in-Fascist-ItalyThe Calandra Italian American Institute will be a hosting a panel discussion titled “Renzo De Felice’s The Jews in Fascist Italy: An Historical Appraisal” on January 28, 6-8 p.m. The symposium will discuss the groundbreaking book, which was the first study of the anti-Jewish persecution in Italy to reach a general audience, with panelists from American and Italian universities. Stony Brook University’s Center for Italian Studies 
Stony Brook University’s Center for Italian Studies will be sponsoring Italian classes for the community, with both adult and children’s classes. John-Scarpati Congratulations to NIAF member Cav. John Scarpati for his community efforts, which restored the Christopher Columbus statue in Mercer County, Hamilton, N.J. The statue, that for many in the local Italian American community stood as a reminder of Italian culture, had recently been vandalized. Scarpati and the Mercer County Italian-American Festival Association (MCIAFA) raised money to not only restore the statue, but hold a rededication ceremony to formally celebrate the Italian American community of Mercer County.
