Act now to guarantee a place at the nation’s premier Italian American event. Registration is now available for the National Italian American Foundation’s 34th Anniversary Gala and Convention, scheduled for the weekend of October 24, 2009 in Washington.
The NIAF Washington Gala is part of a two-day convention (October 23-24) that includes other special receptions, entertainment and conferences. In keeping with our tradition of hosting the President of the United States at this event, President Barack Obama has been invited to attend. President Obama has appointed several Italian Americans, including 2009 Honoree Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, to prominent posts in his administration. Other honorees include culinary pioneer and restaurant entrepreneur Lidia Matticchio Bastianich, actress Carla Gugino, renowned Italian singer and songwriter Antonello Venditti and Chief Executive Officer of PepsiCo Americas Beverages Massimo F. d'Amore.

Other exciting elements of the gala weekend include the return of Piazza d’Italia, a showcase of Italian products and companies, NIAF’s Annual Celebrity Auction and a special conference on biodiversity and sustainability of food and wine. Additionally, you will be treated to an exciting , once-in-a-lifetime performance by 2009 honoree Antonello Venditti that’s sure to keep you on your feet
Most importantly, your attendance will advance NIAF’s educational programs, including scholarships and educational trips to Italy for young people, grants to organizations and other special initiatives to preserve and transmit our great heritage.
