Second Annual Bocce Invitational helps troops, children

Help U.S. troops serving in the Middle East and children diagnosed with cancer by participating in the Second Annual New Jersey Bocce Invitational Tournament on May 17 in Franklin Township, N.J.

More than 500 professional and backyard bocce players are expected at the event, which benefits Operation Shoebox New Jersey, a nonprofit that sends personal care packages and letters to U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since February 2005, the organization has shipped more than 16,000 packages overseas. Last year’s Bocce Invitational event raised $10,000 to continue that flow of care packages to U.S. troops.

This year’s event also benefits the Embrace Kids Foundation, which helps families of children in the Greater New Jersey Area who have been diagnosed with cancer. Last year, the Foundation provided $1.2 million in services to such children and families.
