Help promote positive media portrayals of Italian Americans
In response to news of a second season for “Jersey Shore,” the MTV program connecting “guido” culture and Italian American heritage, NIAF President Joseph V. Del Raso, Esq. issued a statement citing the Foundation’s continued concerns about the program.
With your help, NIAF is getting out the message that these Italian American stereotypes are unacceptable and have no place in today’s media. But there’s more to be done to ensure positive media depictions of Italian Americans.
How can you continue to help? Contribute to NIAF’s efforts by donating and join NIAF today!

Help find an Italian American marrow match
On September 11, 2001, Michael Costanza, then a member of the New York Police Department, responded to Ground Zero immediately following the day’s devastating terrorist attacks, serving his country at a time of need.
Now Costanza, 34, is in need. Today a sergeant with New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and father of two children, Costanza was recently diagnosed with leukemia and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. He is seeking potential donors who share his Sicilian American heritage.
A bone marrow drive will be held for Costanza at Vanderbilt Hall in Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal on Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Contact the MTA’s Police Benevolent Association at 516-823-8930 or visit www.mtapba.com to learn more.
Or, to find out how you can be an important addition to the number of bone marrow donors of Italian descent, contact the National Marrow Donor Program at www.marrow.org.
