- Expo Italia, a tradeshow highlighting the Best of Italy on Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- A screening of “Crimebuster: A Son’s Search for His Father,” a documentary produced by NIAF grant recipient Louis DeMatteis, on Friday, October 22 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. A question-and-answer session will follow.
- NIAF’s Annual Live Auction on Saturday, October 23 from 2-3 p.m. featuring an array of travel packages, designer clothing, jewelry, sports memorabilia and more.
- “Wines and Authentic Foods of Italy – An Endless Adventure in Taste,” a wine tasting and seminar on Saturday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and again from 3-4 p.m. presented by the Italian Trade Commission.

NIAF unveils new details about sports roundtable
Join ESPN’s Tony Reali and Sal Paolantonio for a discussion on the latest sports topics, news and gossip during “Talking Sports!” -- a NIAF celebrity luncheon and roundtable discussion from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2010. Listen to panelists offer their insight, observations and predictions for the World Series, NFL season, Super Bowl, National Championship game and more. Women’s health conference provides insight into treatments, care
“Let’s Talk About It!,” a Friday, October 22 free conference on women’s health, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. featuring panelists Dr. Francis S. Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health; surgeon Ignazio Marino, a member of the Italian Senate; NIAF Board Member Linda Carlozzi, a breast cancer survivor; and Dr. Antonio Giordano, president and founder of the Sbarro Health Research Organization and a professor of molecular biology at Temple University, all discussing the latest in preventative strategies for breast cancer, including the newest recommendations for diet, lifestyle and mammography screenings. NIAF offers special seating, prices for gala attendees under 30
This year, NIAF guests between the ages of 18-30 will be offered youth seating within the main gala and access to an after-party with DJ and dancing. Although general gala tickets range from $400 to $2,500 per person, NIAF’s special designated youth seating costs only $115 per ticket!
NIAF also offers special youth prices for a variety of other convention activities, including:
- Friday Luncheon with Keynote Speaker – Ticket(s) are $35 each for Youth Gala Attendees ($65 for non-attendees)
- A cabaret evening Tribute to a Legend: Frank Sinatra! - Ticket(s) @ $50 each for Youth attendees to the Gala ($90 for non-attendees)

NIAF to honor leaders in business, medicine and film
In case you haven’t heard, this year’s gala honorees include Fulvio Conti, CEO of Enel S.p.A., who will receive the NIAF Special Achievement Award for International Business; film producer and president of Naples Soccer Club Aurelio De Laurentiis, who will receive the NIAF United States-Italy Friendship Award; Tom Izzo, head men’s basketball coach for Michigan State University, who will receive a NIAF Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports; Christopher J. Nassetta, president & CEO of Hilton Worldwide, who will receive the NIAF Special Achievement Award in Business; and Dr. Thomas Scalea, physician-in-chief of the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, who will receive a NIAF Special Achievement Award in Science and Medicine.
Additionally, we are proud to announce that Joe Uva, president and CEO of Univision Communications, Inc., will receive the NIAF One America Award from Jim Walton, president of CNN Worldwide. Look for more guest announcements in the coming weeks!

Exhibit examines Palladio’s life, work
Andrea Palladio, a sixteenth-century Italian architect, has inspired many western architects, including Thomas Jefferson. The National Building Museum in Washington, D.C., is recognizing his influence with an exhibition this fall of 31 rare Palladio drawings on loan from the Royal Institute of British Architects Trust.
The exhibit, “Palladio and His Legacy,” will run from September 2, 2010 through January 9, 2011. Click here to learn more.
New play about Lombardi to open on Broadway
