The Anthony Campitelli Endowed Fund

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) is now accepting grant proposals for its latest endowment, the Anthony Campitelli Endowed Fund. The Fund will support various humanitarian and community projects in and around Mr. Campitelli's birthplace, Castel Frentano (CH) in Abruzzo, Italy. These will include schools, churches, and eldercare facilities. Applications for scholarships for residents of Castel Frentano and the Chieti province will also be accepted. Grant recipients will be selected based on need and merit. "This Fund will continue Anthony Campitelli's legacy of helping those in need, and will fulfil the life-long dream of this very special man," NIAF Chairman Joseph Del Raso said. Mr. Campitelli immigrated to the United States with his mother and sister in 1928, joining his father here. Subsequently, he rose to prominence as an architect and builder in the Washington, D.C. area, but always maintained strong ties to Castel Frentano, providing financial support to many of its local institutions.
