Challenging common thought on Italian American studies

Interested in what is taught in U.S. classrooms under the label of Italian and/or Italian American studies?  Then attend "For a Dangerous Pedagogy: A Manifesto for Italian and Italian American Studies," a four-day university symposium on April 14-17, 2010 made possible in part by a NIAF grant. 

 

The conference is intended to provoke a radical re-thinking of those studies, what they mean, their methods and how they are related. Keynote speakers include a panel of prestigious academics from the United States, Italy and beyond.

 

Panel discussions will be held at Hofstra University in Long Island on April 14-15, 2010, at Columbia University's Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America in Manhattan on April 16, 2010 and New York University's Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimo on April 17, 2010, also in Manhattan.
